Established in 1921, the Catholic Library Association is an international membership organization, providing its members professional development through educational and networking experiences, publications, scholarships, and other services. The Catholic Library Association coordinates the exchange of ideas, provides a source of inspirational support and guidance in ethical issues related to librarianship, and offers fellowship for those who seek, serve, preserve, and share the word in all its forms.
CLA Partners in In Good Faith Project
Through funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the American Theological Library Association (ATLA) and project partners the Catholic Library Association (CLA) and the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL) are preparing a preservation survey for small theological and religious studies libraries, archives, and cultural institutions. The survey is the centerpiece of an IMLS National Leadership Grants for Libraries Planning Grant for the project, "In Good Faith: Collection Care, Preservation, and Access in Small Theological and Religious Studies Libraries." 2014 Mary A. Grant Volunteer Award - Nancy K. Schmidtmann
Nancy K. Schmidtmann has been awarded the 2014 Mary A. Grant Service Award for her generous and tireless service to CLA at the national, section and chapter levels. In addition to serving as CLA president from 2009-2011, she was also the Local Committee Chair for our 2012 Boston Convention, as well as helping us to revitalize the Brooklyn/Long Island Chapter. ATLA Receives IMLS Grant to Explore Preservation Needs in Small Theological and Religious Studies Libraries
Chicago, IL, September 27, 2013 - The American Theological Library Association (ATLA) has received a 2013 National Leadership Grants for Libraries Planning Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences (IMLS) in the amount of $46,500. The grant will support the project, “In Good Faith: Collection Care, Preservation, and Access in Small Theological and Religious Studies Libraries,” in partnership with the Catholic Library Association (CLA) and the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL).
