The Catholic Library Association offers opportunities for members to advance in the library profession through its annual convention held concurrently with the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) each spring.

2016 CLA Annual Convention

Catholic Library Association invited all members to attend the 2016 Annual Convention, March 29-31, 2016 in San Diego, CA. CLA meets in conjunction with National Catholic Educational Association during Easter Week each year.

Pre-registration closed on March 27. Please note on-site registration was available. More information regarding the NCEA Convention can be found here.

When registering through the NCEA site, be sure to select the option to register as a CLA member.

2016 CLA Convention – Special Events

CLA Opening Dinner & Awards Presentation

Tuesday, March 29th 7:00 pm

University of San Diego
James S Copley Library

(Transportation will be provided)

The Dinner followed Mass which was held at the Campus Chapel steps away from the library. Attendees enjoyed their dinner in the Campus’s beautiful James S Copley Library. CLA provided a shuttle to bring attendees to the University for the Awards Dinner. Please note the shuttle picked up at the San Diego Convention Center, outside of Hall E. If you attended Mass before the Awards Dinner, you must have been at the Pick Up location by 5:20 pm. The Awards Dinner was within walking distance from the Chapel so you wer be able to walk over after Mass. For those of you just attending the Awards Dinner, Pick Up time was at 6:20 pm.

CLA Memorial Mass

For those of you that attended the CLA Memorial Mass, CLA provided a shuttle to bring attendees to the University for Mass. Please note the shuttle picked up at the San Diego Convention Center, outside of Hall E. If you attended Mass, you must have been at the Pick Up location by 5:20 pm. Please note for those of you that wanted to attend the Mass and Awards Dinner, you needed to catch the 5:20 pm shuttle. The Awards Dinner was within walking distance from the Chapel.

Regina Medal Luncheon

Harbor House Restaurant

The Harbor House Restaurant was located in Seaport Village which is located just past the Marriott Marquis. It was a short walk from the Convention Center - walking directions here or a quick cab ride.

Attendees were in a for a special treat at this year’s Regina Medal Luncheon. Overlooking the bay, attendees viewed the live virtual presentation of the 2016 Regina Medal to Lee Bennett Hopkins. Followed by the presentation, Sr. Kathryn Bergeron, OSF presented her story of transitioning from a librarian to a Sister and how librarianship is a vocation. The setting, presentations and food were a delightful time for all in attendance.
