The Bishop Byrne Chapter of the Catholic Library Association held their semi-annual meeting at the Regis School in Houston on February 24, 2017. Opening prayer and welcome to new parish librarians was followed by reports, elections, and installation of officers for their two year term. Presentations included a Titlewave webinar from Tara Guess and best practices moments with Shelley James from St. Vincent de Paul. Additionally, Glenn Bailey, Jr, YAH Director of Community and School Partnerships who spoke about how the Young Audiences programs could benefit schools.

The Chapter conferred The Ann Martin Award for excellence upon Marci Peschke. Marci told about her life journey and about authoring the Kylie Jean book series. Additionally, author Denise Ditto gave us details about her personal journey as a writer and how self-publishing brought her story Flying High with the Tooth Fairy to life. These authors offered valuable lessons on both traditional self-publishing routes for authors. Round table discussions, library management issues, networking, learning, and fellowship filled the meeting before it came to a close with prayer from Chaplain Marilyn Fontenot.
