Comments/ Statement of Concerns:

Since my first CLA conference in 2018, I have been struck by the dedication that we have in our field. I see CLA at a crossroads, one that I trust the Holy Spirit will guide us to a sound future. As I read Ecclesiastical Libraries and Their Role in the Mission of the Church (1994), I believe that CLA is poised to provide both professional development and to give insight in how our work is indeed evangelization. I know we have much work in forming ourselves and other Catholic library personnel (both Catholic “library personnel” and “Catholic library” personnel) in for our future as bearers of the Good News to others. We each participate in Christ's saving mission according to our vocation. Together, we can grow to be the best librarians we are called to be.

Comments/Statement of Concerns:

The administration of the Catholic Library Association and its membership have provided me with an abundance of professional knowledge and the helpful opportunity to collaborate with a number of colleagues in various ways during my years with the organization. I welcome the chance to run for the office of member-at-large, and if elected, will gladly work with the membership on the prime issues that face the association at this challenging time for libraries worldwide. Included will be to support the administration in looking at the excellent foundation made throughout the CLA along with ways to keep the membership further engaged, video and technical means of outreach, creative research, and access measures that arise in the near and distant future alike.

Comments/statement of concerns:
The Catholic Library Association has provided a “light to those in darkness” for nearly one hundred years. Those years have seen both success and struggle, but the association is still here. The many, many valiant librarians and institutions who have supported it offer a valuable, viable resource to those seeking to understand. It offers a voice of reason and hope in a world seeking both. While CLA is currently reimagining its offerings and services, it continues to provide not just information, but wisdom to those in need. I hope to be a small part of that continuing renaissance.
