We are pleased to announce the following election results...

Mary Kelleher has been elected Vice President (President Elect) for the 2013-2017 term
Cardinal Beran Library, St. Mary’s Seminary, Houston

 

Pat Lawton has been elected to the Executive Board for a four-year term 2013-2017
Projects Librarian for Catholic Research Resources Alliance (CRRA), Notre Dame, Indiana

 

Ann O'Hara has been elected to the Executive Board for a four-year term 2013-2017
Marquette University High School, Milwaukee, WI

 

The votes were tallied and certified by the 2012 Elections Committee: Eileen M.Franke, Mark Unger and Niki Ehernberger.

Applications for 4 free 2013-14 CLA memberships are due no later than March 1, 2013. This offer was made possible by the Heritage Fund and is open to any interested persons who have never been membes of Catholic Library Association. Application can be found by linking here.

 

FORDHAM EVENT POSTPONED

The November 10, 2012 Fall Meeting re-launching our Metropolitan New York Chapter at Fordham University will be postponed until the Spring of 2013 due to the recent storms on the East coast. Mother Theodore Guerin Fall Meeting

You are cordially invited to attend the Fall meeting of the Mother Theodore Guerin Chapter of CLA.  Meeting will be held on Friday, October 26th at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, IN. Program includes:

9:30am Registration - Continental Breakfast, Woods Student Room, 1st Floor Rooney Library
10-11:30am - "The Legacy of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin" Presentation, President's Room 1st Floor
11:30 - Pasta Lunch provided - President's Room
1-2:30 - Tour of campus and Sisters or Providence Archives.

The library is the first building on the left side of the road when entering  the main (2nd) gate. Turn left at the first intersection and park behind the library. You can enter through the back doors.

WCLA Meeeting in DeForest, WI

Plan on attending the October 19, 2012 WCLA Fall Conference at Comfort Inn and Suites on Hwy V. in DeForest, Wisconsin.

Dr. Robert Smiley, Director of Technology for the Waunakee Community School District, will start out the morning speaking on Long Range Planning and The Future of School Libraries.

Merri Lindgren, CCBC librarian, will present the Best New Books for Younger Children, Teens and Young Adults.

Jacqueline Houtman, young adult book author from Madison, will present Sciency Fiction.

Book vendors will be available for the first half of the day and ideas will be shared.

Please join the MCCLC for a tour of the MCCLC for a tour of the Museum of Jewish Heritage. “The Core Exhibition differs from other institutions of memory by telling the story of the Holocaust from the perspective of those who experienced it. Using first-person histories and personal objects, the Museum explains the essence and beauty of Jewish life and serves as a repository for the memories of Holocaust survivors, whose stories will live on long after they are gone and will continue to teach future generations.

The Core Exhibition is organized around three themes: Jewish Life a Century Ago, The War Against the Jews, and Jewish Renewal each told on a separate floor.”
